CATEMACO
Nestled among the thick vegetation that distinguishes southern Veracruz and on the banks of a beautiful lagoon, this village is the habitat of dark wizards, healers and fortune tellers. Would you dare to meet him?
Located in the southern part of the state of Veracruz, Catemaco is one of the most enigmatic towns of the Mexican Republic.
According to tradition, there are important groups of wizards and sorcerers in the surrounding area, scattered among the thick vegetation that identifies this area of the Gulf of Mexico coast region, this wizards has been learn for decades the millennial secrets of their ancestors. Now, they perform with great respect and solemnity all kinds of mystical-divinatory works "from a simple “limpia” (clean of the soul) to the invocation of beings and spirits, going through the cure or the remedy for all aches using herbs, grains or seeds, as well as any other element granted by mother earth.
During your visit, do not hesitate to contact these "specialists in magical knowledge" which, in addition to allowing you to get closer to its fascinating universe, will also invite you to discover and enjoy the wonders with which nature has endowed this land from Veracruz. Among them is an amazing lagoon of astonishing beauty and a national park, ideal for practicing all kinds of adventure activities as well as to achieve a dream reunion with nature. In this singular population, cradle of sorcerers, you can not stop to take a walk by its famous lagoon, fed by springs and bordered by a thick strip of tropical vegetation.
In this spectacular mirror of water you can visit two islets inhabited by white herons and a colony of monkeys. Also, if you follow the path that surrounds the lagoon, you will find another one that communicates towards the zone of the coast.

ISLA DE LOS MONOS
The "Isla de los monos" (The monkey´s island) is populated by abandoned monkeys, originally imported from Thailand. In the place are 100 boats used to transport tourists on the route to observe these monkeys.
Although the monkeys are extremely loud, the boat ride is a wonderful experience to be considered in the lagoon. The view of the shore of the Town of Catemaco and the view of the neighboring volcanic hills of the lake are absolutely wonderful.
As for the monkeys, unofficially they are maintained by a research center of the University of Veracruz but also they receive the equivalent of pantries of bananas from the operators of the boats time to time.
The University also established a large colony of endangered Mexican monkeys known as Howlers on the Island of Agaltepec in 1988, which is visibly prominent on the voyage.
