Nanciyaga´s Ecological Reserve: rainforest, mineral waters and a mystical lake to enjoy.
The state of Veracruz, with more than 750 kilometers of coastline, beautiful beaches, mountains, forests and historic villages, presents itself as a tourist region full of places to choice. Among the places of interest that can be discovered, explored and appreciated are the Nanciyaga´s Ecological Reserve, a place where the rainforest dominates the landscape. Here you can enjoy countless recreational activities, but ecotourism is the main activity.
Nanciyaga´s Ecological Reserve is located in area called “Los Tuxtlas”, south of the state, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nanciyaga´s Ecological Reserve offers travelers plenty activities to choose: you can enjoy pleasant walks through the jungle, discover species of flora and fauna and be part of some prehispanic traditions, such as the well-known “Baños de Temascal”. When you walk the paths of this paradise full of life, you will notice that on its sides are different reproductions of prehispanic sculptures made of stone and mud, representing essentially the Olmec civilization, culture and nature are present in the most extraordinary way, so you can live and know the best this region of Mexico has to offer.
In addition to this exciting tour, you can enjoy a suspended bridge that crosses a river of mineral water, a planetary system, outdoor theater, craft shops, and a crocodile farm. Are you going to miss them?
As far as gastronomy is concerned, the reserve has a restaurant located in front of the lake, where you can taste a wide variety of dishes and “antojitos” typical Veracruz. Much of the raw materials to prepare the menus are extracted from natural farms that ensure the highest quality of processing. In addition, there is a traditional bakery where you can cook delicacies with firewood, for those more demanding palates.

CASCADA DE EYIPANTLA
One of the places that you cannot miss on your visit to Catemaco is " Las Cascadas de Eyipantla" (The Eyipantla´s waterfall), located on the Rio Grande de Catemaco, whose fall is a curtain or waterfall about 40 meters wide and fifty meters high.
In its history, the jump of Eyipantla´s Fall during the pre-Hispanic period had a great meaning, since it was a "luck" of emblem corresponding to the paradise Tlalocan or Lord of the rains. In this way, both the maidens, priests and caciques arrived at the site with the sole purpose of receiving the blessing of the God Tláloc, back in 2000 BC.
Today, it continues to be a wonderful place with an intense waterfall. In addition it is bordered by a great flow of vegetation where mangroves, encinales, savannas and in their fauna predominate, as wild boar, rabbits, tigrillos, all type of birds like eagles, wild pigeon pheasant and songbirds.
