Veracruz Místico
ACUARIO VERACRUZ
The Aquarium in Veracruz is one of the main attractions in the Port, and it is only necessary to walk along its halls, for children and adults to become amazed with the fascinating marine world. It was inaugurated already two decades ago, but this legendary aquarium still maintains its title as the best aquarium in Latin America. It is not only for its facilities, it keeps to the scientific and technological forefront, in addition to promoting the preservation of the marine ecosystems and the care of the environment.
What will you be able to see?
Throughout its eight rooms, the colors of the rainbow will not be enough to match the hues of the different species you will find in there. The tour begins in a room that simulates de ecosystem of the los Tuxtlas Jungle, where you will be able to admire toucans, orchids, turtles, pejelagartos and even a boa constrictor! This trail is part of the Freshwater Gallery which includes 13 exhibits of Asian, African, South American and Mexican species. In this gallery, boasting a cavernous setting, you will also be able to admire 30 species of fish such as the tambaquias, arowanas, pacus, red-tailed catfish, jackknife fish, African cichlids and many others in a tank holding 562,117 cubic liters.
Further ahead you will find the Reef Fish Tank, which houses hundreds of colorful species from the reefs of Veracruz, the Red Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Don’t miss the moray ells, the seahorses and the clown fish.
And if you are looking for intense emotions, visit the shark tank, where you will see over two dozen of these beautiful animals swim above your head; it feels almost as if you were swimming among them! If you are lucky, you will be able to see how the divers feed them. Due to its circular design, you can tour the Reef Fish Tank in a natural way, following the movement of the fish and sting rays found there.
Further ahead, you will reach the Manatee Tank, a place where the little ones will fall in love with the manatees. Watch them eat putting cabbage leaves into their mouths with their huge fins. Currently the aquarium owns nine species of these harmless mammals and they have been able to get them to breed in captivity.
What you should know
The aquarium has a contact area where you will be able to coexist with some species in order to make visitors aware of the importance of respecting and preserving them. Bring your family and come to visit this aquarium in the state of Veracruz, and don’t forget to go to the souvenir shop, you are going to love it!

PUERTO DE VERACRUZ
Veracruz is a tourist destination with a great history, allows its visitors to travel in time through their buildings and traditions and take a look of ancient Mexico.
Walking through its streets you can see buildings that go back centuries when Veracruz was the only city founded by Europeans in the American continent.
Within the city there are different cultural options where you can appreciate the historical riches of the state and the rest of the republic. The content of these attractions is varied as one of the most important aquariums of the country to different museums that go from the museum of Wax to the museum of Naval History.
Veracruz besides from a great cultural wealth and a beautiful natural world that surrounds it, it has different aquatic activities, among which the diving is outstanding, thanks to its immense extension by the Gulf of Mexico there are four specific points where you can appreciate coral´s reef and discover the unique marine life that inhabits the coasts of the state.
Los portales
This beautiful place is one of the most emblematic of Veracruz, where you can feel the authentic “jarocho" atmosphere (name give to the native people of Veracruz), while enjoying the warmth of the city in some of its restaurants and cafes that are in the place.
The portals are the perfect place to spend a quiet night, enjoying a good conversation while you appreciate the illuminated facades of its old buildings.
The Malecon
This place can be considered as the perfect place to enjoy a walk in the company of your family. With a beautiful view to the sea and to the different boats that arrive to this beautiful port, The Malecón, is the favorite places for the visitors as well as for the people who lives in this place.
Historical Center
Giving a beautiful welcome to the visitor when presenting with its beautiful park, gardens and its central fountain, the Historic Center is one of the postcards characteristic of this destination, most of its buildings belong to the colonial period, emphasizing among them its majestic Cathedral and the Zócalo, formerly called Plaza de Armas, where the troops met in time of war. It is common to find different cultural events, artistic and even at night people dancing danzón.
